Dear Indivisibles,

It’s down to the wire (just 641 votes as we write this), but it appears as though Democrat Conor Lamb has won the special election in PA-18, flipping a district Trump carried by 19 points in 2016.

This is a HUGE victory Indivisible groups and their allies in the district who knocked on thousands of doors in a deep red district. The results are proof that Indivisible groups are changing the landscape and putting all districts in play this fall.

Indivisible groups in PA-18 were founded not long after the 2016 election. Their chief goal: replace Rep. Tim Murphy with a Democrat. And they’ve done just that -- this victory belongs to them. Lamb’s victory was almost unthinkable when the seat was vacated by Murphy in October (Democrats didn’t even field a candidate in 2014 or 2016!).

As we head toward November, we’ll build on this momentum -- with this victory, it makes 40 seats Democrats have flipped up and down the ballot since Trump’s election and now we only need to win back 23 seats to take back the House!

From Virginia to Alabama, and now to Pennsylvania, we’ve supported the work our groups have done on the ground, in their turf, in crucial elections. In Pennsylvania, we launched a peer-to-peer texting program again to complement the work of Indivisible groups on the ground. Here’s how our movement helped flip PA-18:

→ Indivisible Mt. Lebanon and Progress 18 PA, with their coalition partners PA Together, hit every voter in the 18th district three times, and at one location on Saturday alone, over 50 IndivisiVolunteers completed canvassing shifts.

→ Our 1,556 national volunteers completed 2,917 text-banking shifts during the last two weeks of the election. All together, they sent 108,828 texts to voters in the district.

There’s a real opportunity for progressives -- for this movement -- to take back the reins of our government and stop the GOP’s hate-filled agenda once and for all in November.

If we take back the House, Democrats can hold serious investigations into the Trump Administration’s corruption. If we take back the Senate, we can stop Trump’s unqualified, extremist judicial nominations from receiving lifetime appointments and reshaping our laws for a generation. And winning back governorships and state houses will not only give us the chance to pass progressive, local policies, but also prevent extreme gerrymandering in 2020.

And with this victory, taking back the House just got a bit easier. Chip in $23 to help elect progressives so we can flip the chamber in November.
