Tax Day is around the corner and Trump has a plan to make his donors richer

Tax day is coming up, and the ultra-rich aren’t sweating it. In fact, last week some of the wealthiest Americans packed into the home of a billionaire hedge fund manager for a blockbuster fundraiser for Donald Trump.

The audience of just over 100 guests included people like billionaire Robert Mercer, who invested $10 million into Breitbart, and Mike Hodges, a payday lender who was recorded saying he could influence regulations on his own industry by donating to Trump. These are the folks underwriting Trump's campaign (and legal defense fund), and there’s a reason why they're so eager to cut him a check:

Trump is promising his billionaire benefactors that he'll double down on his massive tax cuts for the mega-rich if he gets another term -- even as he hints at policies that will increase costs for the rest of us and previews cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

We know a second Trump term will mean more handouts for the rich at the expense of everyone else, but it's not enough to just spell out what's wrong with Trump. We have to offer something better, and Joe Biden is doing just that.

Last month, Biden released his plan to make the rich pay their fair share so we can invest in our communities and fund the programs that lift up working families:

➡️ Raising the corporate tax rate

➡️ Creating a 25% billionaire minimum tax

➡️ Ending tax breaks for excessive CEO pay

➡️ Closing tax loopholes for offshoring jobs and profits

Creating a fair tax code as Biden proposes would raise trillions of dollars so we can fund things like:

✅ Free pre-K for millions of kids

✅ Expanding the Child Tax Credit

✅ Expanding the Affordable Care Act

✅ Free community college

✅ 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave

Obviously, there’s a stark contrast to paint for voters here. Trump’s tax cuts for the ultra-rich are his signature legislative accomplishment, and also: WILDLY UNPOPULAR. In contrast, Biden’s plan to make the rich pay their fair share polls through the roof. And it has the added benefit of being the right thing to do.

It’s all part of a narrative that we know moves voters: Trump only cares about himself and the billionaires and far-right extremists he believes will back him no matter what. Biden is fighting to help working Americans earn livable wages, receive affordable healthcare, and be able to retire in dignity.

But good narratives don’t break through on their own. It takes phonebanks, texting, postcarding, and a massive door knocking strategy to reach the voters we need to hear them. That’s all part of our plan -- but we need your help to fund it.
