Indivisibles,

The last two weeks have been eventful, to say the least.

Between the MAGA Supreme Court supporting Trump’s immunity claims (after further endangering abortion access and criminalizing homelessness), a rough showing for President Biden at the first Presidential Debate, and the ensuing turmoil throughout the Democratic Party, there are a lot of questions in the air about what happens next.

Regardless of what any of us thinks should happen next in the presidential race, we all know the stakes, and we all want to win.

That is our focus.

Because while President Biden’s debate performance may have been bad, an enduring MAGA majority on the Supreme Court is worse. A second Trump presidency is worse. Project 2025 is worse.

That is what we’re up against. Project 2025 would:

This election is not just about the names at the top of the ticket (though Trump is uniquely reprehensible), it is about the entire incoming administration, the House, the Senate, and the courts. It is about governing for the people, not planning a “second American Revolution” like Trump’s not-so-silent partners -- the architects of Project 2025.

As the conversation continues to develop around the debate and its fallout, it’s important for all of us to remember that our North Star is defeating MAGA, electing a Democratic majority, enacting democracy reform, and codifying reproductive freedoms.

We’ll work through the turmoil because we know that our future is not dependent upon one person at the top, it is guided by the actions each and every one of us takes every day toward a better future.

With that, here are your weekly to-dos:

 Your weekly to-dos

Emergency SCOTUS Response National Phonebank Thursday, July 11 at 7pm ET/4pm PT

  1. Register for our Emergency SCOTUS Response National Phonebank this Thursday, July 11 at 7pm ET/4pm PT. With Trump’s hand-picked Supreme Court justices declaring him above the law, it’s now more important than ever to ensure he never sees the inside of the Oval Office again. Join us as we call voters in Pennsylvania to make sure they know just how disastrous a second Trump presidency would be.
  2. Register for our National Phonebank for Raquel Terán on Wednesday, July 17 at 9:30pm ET/6:30pm PT. To stop the MAGA agenda, we have to do more than just defeat Trump -- we need to hold the Senate, and win back the House to enact democracy reforms and enshrine reproductive freedoms. That means pulling out all the stops for our battleground candidates. Help us elect a true fighter for justice and equality by joining our national phonebank into AZ-03 next Wednesday.
  3. Sign up to phonebank, textbank, or write to voters with our new Majority Over MAGA: State to State resource. Neighbor2Neighbor (see below) may only be available in our target districts, but it’s going to take everyone coming together to drive wins in November. This State to State page will be our home for all of the other resources and strategies that will power us to a true Democratic trifecta that will codify reproductive freedoms and enact democracy reforms. Check this page to learn about phonebanks, textbanks, postcards, reimbursements, and more that will be the backbone of our 2024 election program.
  4. Neighbor2Neighbor is open!!!! Check and see if it’s available in your area, and help get out the vote. We have opened our highly effective, community conversation program -- Neighbor2Neighbor. If you want to have the biggest impact on voter turnout, this is the most effective way we’ve found to mobilize community members (our numbers prove it). Check and see if Neighbor2Neighbor is available in your area and, if it is, sign up today.

P.S. We count on small dollar donors to help fund this movement! If you're able, please pitch in today to support the grassroots organizing that powers our progressive wins.

SCOTUS Corruption Week of Action

American democracy is in crisis. The United States Supreme Court -- the highest court in our land -- has been stacked with a MAGA supermajority and plagued by corruption and undue influence from far-right billionaires. During this disastrous 2024 SCOTUS term, MAGA justices:

  • Criminalized homelessness
  • Overturned a ban on bump stocks
  • Empowered themselves to make policy decisions instead of agency experts
  • Sent two abortion cases back to the lower courts to stall the decisions, giving MAGA judges more opportunities to restrict abortion access and continuing to let states implement more abortion and reproductive care bans
  • Made it harder for the Department of Justice to prosecute January 6th insurrectionists
  • And agreed that Trump has immunity for his crimes related to January 6th, ensuring that his federal trials will be stalled until after the election

It’s completely unsurprising that the MAGA justices ruled in favor of big corporations, special interests, and Donald Trump -- they’ve demonstrated time and again that’s where their loyalties lie, not to the Constitution or the American people.

Congress has oversight of the Court. They cannot afford to wait any longer to use their power and rein in SCOTUS corruption. The Senate Judiciary Committee must act now to combat the unethical behavior and corruption in our highest court.

Join us, alongside partner Free Speech For People, for a Week of Action to root out SCOTUS corruption.

Congress: Do your job and hold SCOTUS accountable.

Call your senator and ask them to call on the Senate Judiciary Committee to do its job and hold these justices accountable. Whether it’s Alito flying insurrectionist flags, Thomas receiving lavish gifts from MAGA extremists, or Roberts letting it all happen under his watch, SCOTUS has a problem and it is the job of the Senate Judiciary Committee to clean it up.

It is not enough to know that corruption is rampant on the Court: Our elected officials must be doing everything in their power to root it out -- even if that means subpoenaing SCOTUS justices. Take a moment to defend our democracy by making a call today.

Demand Your Members of Congress Say No To Netanyahu

**Content Warning: Talk about the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Jump to the line break if you need to avoid this topic.**

No to Netanyahu: Netanyahu shouldn't have been invited to address Congress. Members of Congress shouldn't attend.

Thousands of Palestinians are fleeing Gaza City following new evacuation orders by the Israeli military and an increase in bombing over the weekend.

At the same time, ceasefire negotiations are still ongoing, though Netanyahu is now insisting that a ceasefire not prevent his regime from continuing to fight until their war goals are met. How do you negotiate a ceasefire that doesn’t guarantee a cessation of military aggression? You don’t. Netanyahu is continuing to act in his own self interest rather than in the interests of the remaining hostages, the Israeli people, and the security of the entire region.

The Biden administration continues to insist that the Israeli government is on board for a ceasefire agreement, yet Netanyahu behaves otherwise. He’s a corrupt, bad-faith negotiator, and the US must exert more pressure to close this ceasefire deal as urgently as possible.

For that to happen, the United States must use its considerable leverage to actually push Netanyahu and that means withholding offensive weapons. Now is not the time for Netanyahu to address Congress and try to secure political support for his tenuous grip over Israel. Now is the time to work toward peace.

Call your senator and demand they say no to Netanyahu, skip his congressional address, and use every bit of leverage the US can muster toward a ceasefire.

Indivisible Truth Brigade Big Truths Call -- DEI Lies, Busted with special guest Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin on Wednesday July 10 at 6:30pm ET/3:30pm PT

Register for this month’s Big Truths Call: DEI Lies, Busted! with special guest Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin this Wednesday, July 10 at 6:30pm ET/3:30pm PT. Disinformation has woven its way into every corner of the socio-political landscape across the country, and the lies about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are particularly craven. DEI programs educate and unify; lies about them keep us in the dark and divided. It’s time to bust the DEI lies with special guest Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin! In this month’s call, Elizabeth will help us understand DEI historically, expose tactics used by bad actors to undermine and outlaw DEI efforts, and ground us in an awareness of DEI’s profound impact. Then, we’ll take action -- because understanding may be difficult, but common ground on issues like belonging and fairness is easy to find, and we can shift the narrative.
