Beth,

Every day brings new scenes that shock the conscience.

Heavily armed ICE thugs are storming quiet parks on horseback to terrify families. They are tackling and detaining lawmakers, scooping up US citizens, disappearing legal residents for exercising their First Amendment rights, and smashing into private homes and automobiles.

Community members are dying in ICE custody while the MAGA patrons of this new American Gestapo sell detention center merch.

ICE is lawless, dangerous, and -- thanks to the passage of Trump’s big ugly bill -- about to have a budget bigger than most of the world’s militaries.

We know what’s coming -- the tactics we’ve seen tested in Los Angeles are about to roll out all across the country, only with greater terrifying spectacle. Their goal is to intimidate us so we won’t fight back; so that the very idea of fighting back feels futile.

But even with the hiring spree they are about to embark upon, there are MANY more of us than there are of them. We have tools to begin to fight back -- nonviolently, strategically, meaningfully. And the time to show we won’t be intimidated into submission is now.

Here are some actions you can take today to push back immediately and/or prepare for the significant work ahead of us:

Regardless of where you live:

Sign up to be part of One Million Rising -- our nationwide effort to train 1,000,000 Americans to lead peaceful non-compliance and disruption tactics.

Step up to fight authoritarianism

🔵
If you live in a state with a Democratic trifecta:

Use our tools to contact your governor and state representatives. Urge them to outlaw masked arrests and take a stand against authoritarian secret police tactics.

Help constrain ICE

In states with Democratic trifectas and many large cities, Democratic governors, mayors, and lawmakers have the power to stop some of ICE’s most thuggish terror tactics. In at least one state, we’ve already seen legislation introduced to prohibit law enforcement from hiding their faces and requiring visible identification when they perform public duties.

That’s a blueprint for wielding state and local power to protect our fundamental freedoms against ICE overreach, and we want to see efforts just like it spread across the country.

But some Democrats won’t act against ICE unless we force them to. Others simply don’t know there are viable ways they can stem ICE overreach. That’s why we need you to contact them now.

Use our toolkit to contact your governor and Democratic lawmakers about introducing legislation to ban ICE agents from hiding their identities. Then, contact your Democratic mayor, if you have one, about icing ICE out on the local level.

A supercharged ICE is a crucial cog in Trump’s fascist plans. But as we wrote earlier this week, he does not have a mandate for thuggery, violence, and lawlessness. Americans do not want secret police.

If we act all together, we can slow or stop ICE’s reign of terror, and then we can keep Trump from seizing the crown he so desperately wants.

In solidarity,

Indivisible Project is a locally-led, people-powered movement of thousands of local groups in red, blue, and purple states, and in urban, suburban, and rural areas. Our mission is to power and lift up a grassroots movement of local groups to defeat the Trump agenda, elect progressive leaders, and realize bold progressive policies.

Grassroots donations, not foundations or large gifts, are our single largest source of funding. That means we’re accountable to, and fueled by, Indivisibles on the ground. Chip in $7 to keep fueling our movement.
