Indivisibles,
WE WON!!! The Associated Press is projecting Indivisible-endorsed congressional candidate Randy Villegas will advance to the general election! Randy faced massive hurdles in this race, from the DCCC parachuting into the district to support a do-nothing Democrat, to corporate PACs and AIPAC-adjacent groups spending big against him. At the end of the day, grassroots power won out!
One grassroots race at a time, we’re taking a step toward transforming the Democratic Party into a fighting, winning machine.
Want to take another step forward? Meet Darializa Avila Chevalier. Like Randy, Darializa is a movement builder and an organizer. Leah and I got a chance to chat with her on What’s the Plan recently, and here are the highlights:
- Darializa is the child of immigrants and she’s been fighting for her neighbors in Upper Manhattan since she was a teen.
- She’s prioritizing investing in dignified affordable housing, abolishing ICE, and expanding union protections.
- She’s funding her campaigns with grassroots support -- no AI, no Crypto, no AIPAC, no corporate PACs of any kind.
Darializa is running for Congress in New York, but you don’t have to be a New Yorker to get jazzed up about this race. This is about building a fighting Democratic Party that crushes Trump’s goons in November and gets to work on a big, powerful accountability agenda the minute the new Congress gets sworn in. Sound good? Think about splitting a donation today between Darializa's campaign and Indivisible here.

Darializa’s opponent is a powerful status-quo politician, but he’s beatable. I’d be behind Darializa in any scenario, but her victory will be particularly satisfying in this race because she’s up against one of the most senior members of the do-nothing wing of the party. In one the bluest districts in the country, Darializa’s opponent is a Cuomo-endorsing, AIPAC-funded, Corporate PAC-fueled ICE apologist. He’s far too conservative and cautious for the district, which gives us a real shot.
When Darializa started the campaign, it was supposed to be “impossible” to defeat such a powerful member of the establishment. Now this race is a coin flip -- it legitimately could go either way. The election is only two weeks away, and grassroots energy and grassroots dollars could make the difference.
I believe in putting my money where my mouth is, so I just took a break from writing this paragraph to donate $200 to Darializa’s campaign. Indivisibles have been incredible this year supporting our endorsed candidates, and I don’t want to take advantage of that generosity. I’m emailing now because I think this is a place where the bang-for-buck is astronomical.
If we want to change the Party for the better, we need our deep blue districts represented by actual Democrats who are willing to stand up to big donors at the same time they fight back against Trump’s regime. Darializa will do that for us, so if you can donate, please donate! If you can’t donate, please go volunteer to contact some voters for her!
We’re gonna win this. Then we’re gonna win the midterms. Then we’re gonna protect the results. Then we’re gonna swear in a new Congress. Then we’re going to prosecute the bastards who broke the law and violated the Constitution.
That’s the plan. Supporting Darializa is a step towards implementing that plan.
In solidarity,
Ezra Levin Co-Executive Director, Indivisible
