Indivisible

Indivisibles,

Last Tuesday, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Houston, Texas.

This Monday, Johan Sebastián Guerrero was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Biddeford, Maine in front of his wife and 3-year-old daughter.

Two killings by ICE in a single week. Two fathers, husbands, neighbors ripped from their families and their communities by paramilitaries carrying out the orders of Donald Trump and Stephen Miller.

And as we were writing this, news broke that a man was fatally struck by a vehicle during an ICE operation in St. Augustine, Florida.

We cannot stand by as Trump’s secret police terrorize our communities, inflict violence everywhere they go, and kill our neighbors. We cannot accept it and move on as ICE's death toll climbs higher by the day.

Tonight, Wednesday, July 15 at 8pm ET/5pm PT, please join our partners at Disappeared in America for a national movement call to mourn Lorenzo, Johan, and all victims of state violence and learn how we can protect our communities and hold ICE accountable.

Justice for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastian Guerroro Mass Call Wed 8PM ET

On the call, we will hear from Lorenzo’s loved ones and local Maine groups, get updates about the cases, and learn how to take action to demand Justice for Lorenzo. Justice for Johan. Justice for All. ICE OUT.

As people in Houston, Biddeford, and across the US protest the killing of Lorenzo and Johan, ICE is trying to trick us into complacency. On Tuesday, the agency ordered officers to cease all vehicle stops. This is a temporary directive (which Trump already wants reversed) that would do nothing to change the systemic violence at ICE’s core -- violence that rips families apart, disappears loved ones, and incarcerates our neighbors in warehouses-turned-concentration-camps. 21 people -- that we know of -- have died in ICE detention facilities this year alone.

We must name this cruelty for what it is, reject ICE’s lies and attempts at distraction, and come together with our communities to honor Lorenzo and Johan and call for an end to state brutality.

On tonight’s call, you’ll hear from our partners about holding vigils for Lorenzo, Johan, and all victims of ICE’s cruelty in the coming days. Find an event via Disappeared in America or our events page (try searching “vigil” to locate one near you). You’ll also hear about a larger day of action and accountability on July 25 and how to organize your own community vigil during the day of mass action.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team

Our mission is to power and lift up a grassroots movement of local groups to defeat the Trump agenda, elect progressive leaders, and realize bold progressive policies.

Grassroots donations, not foundations or large gifts, are our single largest source of funding. That means we’re accountable to, and fueled by, Indivisibles on the ground. Chip in $7 to keep fueling our movement.
