Join us Thursday for What’s the Plan with special guest Elie Mystal

Indivisibles,

A fascist regime can’t rule without capitulators and enablers and some of the worst examples are currently sitting on the Supreme Court. From overturning Roe v. Wade to gutting the Voting Rights Act, the conservative majority on the Court has served as a rubber stamp for the regime’s agenda.

Just last night, the Court paused an injunction against Trump’s executive order targeting vote by mail. To be clear, this case is not settled and this week’s ruling does not affect any voter’s ability to cast a mail ballot.* But yesterday’s actions show that even when the Court is not outright ruling in the regime’s favor, they’re more than willing to help it sow chaos and confusion ahead of the November election.

So we have a corrupt, reactionary Supreme Court doing the regime’s bidding -- what can we do about it? What power do we have to change the Court? And how do we get Democrats to make SCOTUS reform a priority when they’re in power?

Those are the questions we’re tackling in this week’s edition of What’s the Plan, and to help answer them we’re joined by a special guest, Elie Mystal. Elie is a brilliant author, litigator, and professional court observer who has written extensively about the Supreme Court, how it’s become the broken institution we know today, and what progressives need to do to reform it.

To join the conversation, register for this week’s What’s the Plan with Ezra, Leah, and Elie on Thursday, August 27 at 3pm ET / 12pm PT >>

“What’s

For those new to Indivisible, What’s the Plan is the weekly virtual chat where Indivisible’s co-founders, Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg, respond to the latest news and outline our strategy for fighting back against the authoritarian takeover of our government. Ezra and Leah guide the conversation, but we want to hear from you too! Here’s how you can join in:

  1.  Sign up for the call to join us on Thursday at 3pm ET/ 12pm PT.

  2. Check out these resources to prepare for Thursday’s call. We’ve got two articles and one short video that will help get everyone up to date on recent court decisions, how Republicans managed to stack the Court, and the changes being proposed by progressive reformers.

  3. Submit a question for the Q&A. If you could ask Elie one question, what would it be? Let us know by answering the survey before the call.

We hope you can join the call on Thursday and invite others to do the same!

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team

* On Thursday, we’ll be discussing the long term strategy we need to be preparing to reform the court and protect our fundamental rights. If you’d also like to learn how we’re responding to the court’s ruling on vote by mail and other election threats ahead of the midterms, join the Hands Off Our Vote election defense training tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26 at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT.
