Indivisible’s weekly newsletter for October 26, 2026

In this week's newsletter: Authoritarians are losing to huge people-powered movements across the world. Next up, the US. You can help us defeat the fascists by volunteering to get out the vote and demanding Congress prevent Big Tech from interfering in our elections.

Indivisibles,
Forgive me, I’m an optimist. But my optimism has a lot of data behind it! Let’s start at home.
Democracy is already reasserting itself in this election. Check out this chart with updated data from No Kings. In the lead-up to No Kings: Vote Early on October 17, early vote in counties with a No Kings event tracked almost exactly to counties without one. On the day, the early vote in counties with the No Kings events skyrocketed. We did that!

Now, abroad.
The authoritarians are falling. In April, a pro-democracy coalition in Hungary ousted Viktor Orbán after 16 years in power. On Sunday, a grassroots movement in Serbia beat Aleksandar Vučić, the Putin-favored strongman who had run the country for 14 years. And the same day in Brazil, Lula upended expectations to defeat Flávio Bolsonaro, the right-wing failson of the imprisoned former president Jair Bolsonaro.
That’s an auspicious backdrop for our own electoral showdown with a domestic authoritarian. And it comes with two lessons.
- Organizing wins. In all three countries, the authoritarians lost to mass grassroots movements that organized, mobilized, and interrupted politics as usual. Hungary had 2,500 semi-autonomous local “islands” organizing against Orbánism. Serbia’s democratic victory was the product of a youth-led movement. In Brazil, a thriving pro-democracy movement fought back against anti-democratic tech giants, including a cross-country pushback against Zuckerberg’s Meta that we were proud to join.
- The margin matters. Hungary and Serbia weren’t close. The anti-Orban party won a supermajority on record turnout, and Orbán conceded on election night. Serbia’s Student List won an outright majority on the highest turnout in more than 30 years, and Vučić conceded the same night. Brazil was close, roughly 52-48, and Flávio Bolsonaro is now refusing to accept the result. Authoritarians will always try to sabotage a close election. A blowout leaves them nothing to work with.
We want to deliver more than a slim victory next week. I want to crush this regime electorally. I want to do to Trump what Hungarians did to Orbán and Serbians did to Vučić. And as the election nears, I’m regularly asked who to give to. So let me point you to three lower-profile House races that, if we win them, would help build a truly extraordinary (and very achievable) majority:
Each of these is a “red” district but in this environment, we could flip all of them. Last-minute grassroots money helps here, and each link above goes straight to the campaign. Indivisible doesn’t keep a dime. And if you can’t give, that’s OK! Sign up for a phone bank shift and help get out the vote for a new pro-democracy majority.
Close elections are what the fascists want. Let’s not give them one.
In solidarity, Ezra Levin Co-Executive Director, Indivisible
Your weekly to-dos

With just 8 days to go, we need to reach voters in support of Bob Harvie (PA-01), Bob Brooks (PA-07), Paige Cognetti (PA-08), Trina Swanson (MN-08), Dr. Aisha Wahab (CA-14), and Randy Villegas (CA-22). These seats will help determine control of the House, and your one-on-one conversations with voters can make all the difference. Paid for by Indivisible Action. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee.
- Get out the vote for Angie Nixon this Wednesday, October 28 at a special phone bank with popular democracy podcast Gaslit Nation (6pm ET/3pm PT). Read on for more! Paid for by Indivisible Action. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee.
- After Mark Zuckerberg’s failure to address the No Kings coalition’s concerns and demands for transparency, continue to urge your Members of Congress to protect our elections from Big Tech interference and hold Meta accountable for attempting to silence the coalition on No Kings Day. Last week, the No Kings coalition sent an open letter to Meta insisting on accountability and answers after suspending the coalition’s Instagram account for hours on October 17. In response, Meta fell back on technical explanations, not actual engagement with critical questions about their involvement with the Trump administration and safeguards the company will enforce in the future. The public deserves answers.
- Print and share our ICE at the Polls zine, made in collaboration with acclaimed comic book artist Greg Pak, to ensure your community knows what to do if they spot federal agents at voting locations. Don’t forget to print and distribute our Spanish version, too! Looking for more resources to share with your neighbors? Check out our videos with the ACLU and LUCHA Arizona for all the information you need to know about how to respond if you see ICE at the polls.
- Live in a rural area? Review and share our brand new Rural Voters Guide to reduce the impact of voting challenges in your community. From reduced local post office services to longer travel times to the polls to the outsized influence of election deniers in positions of power, rural voters often have to contend with unique hurdles to cast their ballots. If you have friends or loved ones who live in rural areas, send this to them to help protect their vote!
- Join our monthly Fight Back With Friends! Call tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27 to level up your skills on how to activate your friends, family, and neighbors to get out the vote (6:30pm ET/3:30pm PT). This month, we’ll ask our circles to take the next step to “triple their vote” by encouraging their friends, families, and communities to get to the polls and vote by November 3 and commit to protecting the results no matter the outcome. Join us tomorrow as we continue our get out the vote series on our way to Election Day!
What's the Plan feat. Abdul El-Sayed

Trump’s Attack on Alaska’s Elections Underscores Why We Must Continue Growing Our Election Protection Force
Election sabotage can be subtle. Or it can be wildly brazen, as was the case last week when the DOJ pre-emptively sued Alaska to block certification of the US Senate race if Democratic candidate Mary Peltola wins.
Let’s be clear about what’s happening here: Trump is flailing. This lawsuit is ludicrous and grounded in the regime’s thirst for absolute power, rather than any reading of the Constitution or election law. But it reveals how far the regime is prepared to go -- and why we must be prepared to respond to attempts to overturn the will of the people.
This is why we’ve been building our strongest election protection program ever: Hands Off Our Vote. If you haven’t signed up already, join the more than 50,000 Indivisibles who are fighting to ensure that every eligible voter is able to cast their ballot, every vote is counted, and every winner is seated.
If you’re ready to get involved right now, join one of many daily phone banks with VoPo Pros to help voters “cure” ballots -- fixing mistakes made on ballots so that their votes are counted.

Indivisibles on the Ground Spotlight of the Week: Indivisible Greater Kalamazoo
Earlier this year, Indivisible hosted Immigrant Justice Summer (IJS), a five-part training series to learn how to respond to ICE surges and violence in our own communities in a safe, hyper-local, immigrant-aligned way.
Inspired by this series, Indivisible Greater Kalamazoo (IGK) began hosting monthly constitutional observer trainings in a safe community space offered by their local church. They also worked to coordinate mutual aid groups to create a hotline in partnership with a powerful coalition of local partners, including El Consilio, a Latinx resource center. Now, if someone is in need, they can call just one number to request help, rather than needing to remember a list of resources and groups. IGK is also working with a local artist to make business cards listing the number to distribute widely across the region.
Kathy, a member of IGK, shared that this effort was “a direct result of sitting in [Immigrant Justice Summer] trainings and it’s an important part of being a prepared community.” Their work is an incredible example of what we can achieve when we learn from and gather inspiration from one another, and why we always keep marching forward even when it feels hard.
