Indivisible
We’re endorsing local, progressive leaders, backing up Indivisible groups doing the work to elect them, and win

Indivisibles,

In the 2016 elections, millions of people sat out. And we saw what happened.

There’s not much we can do to change what happened, but our movement is learning from our past and working to change the future. We win by engaging a broad, multiracial coalition of the grassroots -- new voters, young voters, and people of color -- right from the start, in the primaries.

Nearly two full years out from November 2016, Indivisibles across the country have accomplished so much:

  • We’ve endorsed 43 IndivisiCandidates, locally and nationally, moving onto the general in November. 22 of those candidates are women and 13 are people of color (and we have a whole new cohort of endorsements coming soon!).
  • We’re putting power back into the hands of the people! Through our endorsement program, Indivisible groups take the lead and tell us who they want to see in Congress.
  • We’re unleashing the tools (that parties often hold dearly) and putting them in the hands of the people running campaigns in their home turf.

Last night, Ayanna Pressley showed the country exactly what she means when she says, “change can’t wait.” Ayanna secured the Democratic ticket for Massachusetts’ 7th District and unseated 20-year Democratic incumbent, Mike Capuano. She didn’t “wait her turn.” She didn’t back down against a 10-term incumbent. Instead she stood up and fought to represent the needs of her district, one of the most inequitable districts in the country. She earned her district’s trust and won their votes.

In the past two years we’ve had to fight (over and over again) to protect our health care, stop the tax scam, and so much more. It. ends. here. We’re building a new congress for 2019 that will:

✔️ Protect reproductive rights
✔️ Take corporate PAC money out of politics
✔️ Protect immigrant and refugee rights
✔️ Protect our health care

That’s a Congress that we can believe in. That’s a Congress that we can fight for and will represent our movement’s values in Washington.

Indivisibles across the nation are doing the work necessary to make sure that no one sits out in this election. They’re knocking on doors of so-called “unlikely voters” that candidates usually don’t knock. They’re laying the groundwork in turfs that were once considered “too red” to organize in. They’re creating a new Congress that represents what the people -- what we -- want. They’re nominating, and electing, candidates of color, LGBTQ candidates, women candidates, first-time candidates -- people who look like us, sound like us, and know our communities inside and out.

It’s out with the old (boys club), and in with the new -- and the Ayanna Pressleys of the world are leading the way!

We’re #60DaysOut from the midterm elections.

Is your Indivisible group ready to put in the work and help candidates like Ayanna take back the House? Great!

This weekend, Indivisibles across the country are hosting another Weekend of Action to help our movement build momentum leading into the general election. And there are three things you can do to get ready for the weekend of action:

  1. Read our Practical Guide to Winning Elections (think the original Indivisible Guide but for reaching voters!).
  2. Plan an event for our #60DaysOut Weekend of Action and register it on our map! Any event on our map by tonight at 11:59pm ET will be sent out to all our supporters within a 35 mile radius of your event. Be sure to “Canvass” in Event Type and “2018 Elections” in Issue Focus!
  3. TONIGHT! We’re hosting a training on best practices for hosting a voter contact event, and take a deep dive into the three types of voter contact: voter registration, canvassing, and phonebanking. RSVP here!

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
